The State of Play
There are six days left in the game. I’ve read 22 of the 25 books. I’ve had 24 squares called and 21 squares claimed. This has given me 6 bingos and leaves me with three books to read to get a Blackout Bingo.
My Halloween Bingo reads in the last week

I’ve had ‘this book ‘Fated‘ on my shelves forever. I’m so glad that I finally got around to reading it for my DARKEST LONDON square.
I had fun with this and I’m keen to read more from the series.
My review is HERE

I played my Alice in Wonderland wild card to change LOCKED ROOM MYSTERY into a square I can claim with any HB book written by an indigenous author or an author from a historically marginalized community.
I’m claiming this square with Stephen Graham Jone’s ‘I Was A Teenage Slasher.* It was a book I struggled with but which I’m glad I stuck with

I read ‘4.50 From Paddington‘ for the AMATEUR SLEUTH square.
I’m most of the way through ‘The Murmuring Bones‘ and I’m really enjoying it. It’s original and well told and brilliantly narrated. I’m hoping to finish it today.
The Final Reads For 2024 Halloween Bingo
I need to read two more books to claim my last Halloween Bingo squares. I’ve added a third book that I’m hoping to read before halloween but which won’t count towards Halloween Bingo.

I played the Tell-Tale Heart wild card to let me claim SWORD & SORCERY with any HB book by a favourite author.
I discovered Kim M. Watt’s books this year and have been reading them avidly. I read her book ‘Gobbelino London and a Scourge of Pleasantries‘ for the BLACK CAT square. I’m using her second DI Adams book, ‘All Out Of Leeds‘ as my ‘favourite author’ book.

I realised that I won’t have enough time to listen to the book I originally picked out for the URBAN DECAY square, so I’ve decided to try Vanessa Nelson’s latest book, ‘A Usual Suspect‘ which kicks off a new Urban Fantasy series.
