The British authorities banned this Christmas ad from Iceland for being too political

Iceland, the supermarket in the UK, not the country in the Arctic, have committed to remove products with Palm Oil in them from their shelves. They has planned to use a Greenpeace animation as their Christmas ad but it has been banned by the advertising authority for being too political.

Watch if for yourself and see what you think.

  1. I think that commercial should be aired as far and wide as possible. Sounds to me like the advertising authority thinks “1984” is a ‘how to’ book, instead of a warning. I don’t understand what it is they’re afraid of if the commercial airs…maybe that people might actually think about where the products they buy come from and what the consequences of over-consumption might be?
