Iceland, the supermarket in the UK, not the country in the Arctic, have committed to remove products with Palm Oil in them from their shelves. They has planned to use a Greenpeace animation as their Christmas ad but it has been banned by the advertising authority for being too political.

I think that commercial should be aired as far and wide as possible. Sounds to me like the advertising authority thinks “1984” is a ‘how to’ book, instead of a warning. I don’t understand what it is they’re afraid of if the commercial airs…maybe that people might actually think about where the products they buy come from and what the consequences of over-consumption might be?
