This year, Liverpool is hosting the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine. Happily for us, our apartment sits between the Arena where the Song Contest is held and the Eurovision Village where fans can go to watch the contest and live bands.
The second semi-final isn’t until tomorrow but we decided to walk over tonight and see what was happening.
The first thing we saw outside our door was that the world had come to Liverpool for Eurovision.
Liverpool is dressed up like a film set for Eurovision.

It’s as if this Eurovision is inspired by Blade Runner and Gotham City. The Eurovision Village has taken over the Pier Head on the Mersey. It’s a huge area but even on a quiet night like tonight, it was buzzing.
We arrived in time to listen to The Lightning Seeds followed by Girls Don’t Sync. Everyone was dancing in the open air. It was a party atmosphere, relaxed, friendly and very Liverpool.

I’m looking forward to the next few days. I hope we can watch tomorrow’s semi-final on the big screens in the Eurovision Village. We have tickets for the Full Rehearsal Show at the Arena on Friday and we’ll watch the Final from a Ferry on the Mersey.
