The cats and humans of Chronos College know that time travel is the best job in the world, and nothing bad can ever happen to them in the past except that one time they lost a traveler. And that other time they lost a cat.

Now they have a chance to make up for past mistakes by rescuing a long lost legend. If only they could convince Professor Boswell, the grumpiest marmalade tabby of all time, to join their mission to the Swinging Sixties, and save one of their own.

I’m setting this aside at 30% because it’s not matching my mood. It’s a good soufflé that’s only unsatisfying because I’m in the mood for a rich, dense fruit cake.

The cats were excellent. They made me grateful that cats can’t talk, or, if they can, they have better things to do with their time than talk to us. 

The humans were more difficult to relate to than the cats – perhaps because they all seemed younger than I can ever remember being.

The humour made me smile rather than laugh.  It had a Terry Pratchett feel, but without the political undertones.

I listened to the audiobook. The narration worked, but the end notes annoyed me. They distracted from the narrative and pushed the humour from amusing to trying too hard. I’d have loved a way of skipping them.
